Details: Joseph was recorded by Dr Edward Shortland as having been resident in Moeraki for five years. Dr Shortland visited here in 1843. Donaldson had a Maori wife called Susan, (Pokiri), a half-caste herself, the dau of Tete. Joseph's occupation was both carpenter and blacksmith. They had nine children. NZETC He has 25 acres of land at Moeraki. Joseph died in 1907 leaving six surviving children.
