Daily Southern Cross, 29 June 1860 Announcing the death of Mr. Bedggood of the Waimate, one of the best and most industrious settlers the district has known.
Feilding Star, 7 June 1907, Page 3 Miss Martha Elizabeth Bedgood died at the home of her brother at Paihia, Bay of Islands, on Tuesday, May 28. She was a daughter of one of the old missionaries, and was born at Waimate North in 1837, in the first " wharepuriri ". built by the missionaries in that, the oldest settlement in New Zealand. In her childhood she witnessed some of the exciting incidents connected with Heke's wars in 1845.
Whanganui Chronicle 6 Feb 1900 John T Bedggood died at Waimate in 1900. He had come to New Zealand in 1836 with his parents.
