Details: George born at Altona near Hamburg in 1799, operated a whaling station at Peraki, Banks Peninsula and kept a diary. He remarked on the extreme weather in the summer of that year. One day it would be very hot and the next day the oil froze in the lamps with snow and rain.
He captained the brig 'Bee' to and from Banks Peninsula before settling permanently 23rd September 1837. He brought his wife (Ann Palmer, married 1837 NSW) and eight other Europeans.
