Details: Father Claude Baty arrived on 16th June 1838. He was stationed at Matata and then at Mahia in 1841. He returned to the Bay of Islands in 1842. Then he was sent to New Caledonia where he died in 1851. He had the priviledge to travel to the beautiful lake Waikaremoana and arrived there only days before Colenso.
