Mohawk River Circle in Upstate New York - Revitalized!
Inspired by the 2019 Prairyerth Living Treasures of North America Heritage Awards in Chicago, the Mohawk River Circle has renewed its commitment to the waters, the land, and the people in Eastern New York and become reactivated.  In 2014 it had joined a newly formed Earth Circles at the UU Society of Schenectady which continues and collaborates with us on various events, like the celebration of First Nations Day, October 11 and 12.

Celebrate First Nations Day

Friday night, October 11th

Saturday, October 12, 2019

at the Octagon Barn in Knox, New York

Join us to celebrate the original people of North America and listen to what they tell us about their beliefs, their history, their teachings, their respect for the land. On this new holiday, we will reaffirm our friendship and our commitment to justice in service to All Our Relations, nurturing mind and spirit through learning, engagement and growth, creating a diverse community that welcomes, embraces and supports all.

Spirit of the Two Row Treaty

This weekend is in the continuing spirit of the Two Row treaty between the Haudansaunee People and white settlers.  The Two Row wampum belt commemorates this treaty and represents two peoples paddling down the river together, each separate but united in their commitment to peace and right living on the land with care for the waters and all creatures. In this spirit we wish to provide an opportunity to connect in community and celebrate the heritage of original people of North America.  This is not white people doing it for people of color; it is two peoples working together.
