NRA Basic Pistol Class

NRA Basic Pistol Shooting is an 8-hour course which includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position and two handed standing positions; selecting a pistol, ammunition, and accessories; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development.

Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, and Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet.  Upon completion of the Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, the student will receive the NRA Basic Pistol Completion Certificate.

This class is a great beginning point for anyone who is new to or has a limited knowledge of handguns.  Students will become familiar with and learn to safely use various types of handguns.  Although it is not required, this class is a great starting point for the North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun Class.

We can provide a class for a couple of people or a large group.  While we have no minimum size for a class, small groups of 4-6 people are an ideal size for students to learn.  If you know an individual or a group that would like to take the class, let us know.  If you do not know anyone else that would like to take the class, we can combine you with another group.  We do not have a set class schedule at this time as we set up classes to accommodate the schedules of our students.  The classes are often broken into segments that allow for the instruction to be completed in two or three afternoons or weekends.  Contact us today to set up a time that is convenient for you.

What you will need for the class:

You will need a handgun, at least 30 rounds of new factory ammunition and eye & ear protection.  Eye & ear protection will be available when needed if you do not have your own.  We will also have various handguns and ammunition available for each student to try.  Part of the objective of the course is for each student to become familiar with various handguns.  We feel that this is best accomplished by having a variety of handguns available for students to shoot.

Cost of course:

The cost of the NRA Basic Pistol Class is $95 per student.
