  • Registration is Now Open!!
    Registration for the 2014 Powder Horn course is now available.  Below on this post is the attachment of the registration form.  You will need to print it off and complete it.  Once you complete it, send it to the address on the form with your deposit.  The course is a first course as we only have a limited space.  The course can have a max of 40 Adults and 8 Youth.  Hope to see you at the course!!  Email: powderhornstlouis@gmail.com if you have any questions.

    The brochure for the course is now available for download in the "Powder Horn 2014" folder under "Documents" on the left hand side.  Please download the attachment and share with all of your Scouting friends.

The dates have been set for 2014!

Weekend one will take place on April 25-27, 2014 at Beaumont Scout Ranch in High Ridge, Missouri.

Weekend two will take place on May 9-11, 2014 at the S-F Scout Ranch in Knob Lick, Missouri.

Powder Horn is an Outdoor / High Adventure resource management course designed to motivate and prepare adult and youth leaders to provide their unit with a safe and correct Outdoor / High Adventure activities.  Any registered Boy Scout of America leader (Cub, Boy, Varsity, Venturing, Sea Scout, & Explorer Post) is welcome to participate.

This course will give all participants an opportunity to experience the many different Outdoor / High Adventure activities.  It will also provide local resources necessary to successfully participate in these Outdoor / High Adventure activities in several ways, including the following:
• Help adult and youth leaders safely conduct outdoor activities of a FUN and challenging nature.
• Provide an introduction / exposure to the resources necessary to successfully lead a unit through an Outdoor / High Adventure program.
Familiarize Scouts and Scouters with the various Scouting Outdoor / High Adventure programs so that they can help their Scouts successfully meet their requirements (Shooting sports awards, outdoors awards, etc.).Powder Horn adventures vary from course to course. Your course will include many of the following: Backpacking, Land Navigation, Cave Exploring, Leave No Trace, Communication, Life Saving, Conservation Project Development, Wilderness Survival, Cooking, Watercraft, COPE, Overnight, SCUBA, Physical Fitness, Ecology, Plants & Wildlife, Emergency Preparedness, Cycling/Mountain Biking, Equestrian, Shooting Sports, Expedition Planning, Outdoor Living History, First Aid, Mountaineering, Fishing, Winter Sports, Hunting, and Working with Teens.

No one will be required to participate in any activity they feel uncomfortable with, but we will highly encourage you to participate in every activity offered.
