Bud Vases with Personality!
Create a family of unique bud vases using simple pottery techniques and underglazes.
This workshop teaches you slab building techniques and how to paint with underglazes directly onto leather-hard clay. The aim is to create a family of two to four character vases – perhaps representing your own family!
The vase itself is simple to construct using a slab and a former. You can vary the height of your vases to suit the characters you're depicting. I'll then show you simple techniques to add a nose and arms. We'll then paint underglazes onto leather-hard clay to create details including faces, hair, and clothing.
This is a brilliant workshop to unleash your artistic flair and create unique designs. However, you don't need to decorate them as characters; you could simply add stripes, spots, flowers, or paint any design you like onto your pieces – it's entirely up to you!
All materials, equipment and tools are provided along with tea and coffee.
Please note your vases cannot be taken home on the day. Your pottery will need to be dried, fired and glazed. They will be ready to collect at your convenience from the venue approximately 2 to 3 weeks later.
