Here at Pot Luck Magazine we welcome your voice, however you represent yourself. Are you a poet? Writer? Chef? Pundit? Life coach? Researcher? Photographer? Artist? Even if it's not your day job, we know you have talent. Please share it with us! If you have an interest but don't know if it will fit, contact us with questions-- we bet we can find a place around the table!
That said, we must reserve the right not to publish any work that is offensive in nature (people can differ in opinions without getting nasty!) and we reserve the right to request changes before approval for publication. The editor is an English teacher, and while she does not mind fixing spelling and punctuation, more substantial organizational and content questions are the responsibility of the contributor. She promises not to be crazy about editorial comments, though!
The pieces we print do not necessarily reflect our views as editors. Good! Who wants friends who are all clones? We hope the pieces make us-- and our readers-- think and spark good conversations. We welcome letters or essays in response or counterbalance. Be careful not to make assumptions about contributors and their beliefs based on one piece, though-- I am a hippie conservative and my husband is a farmboy liberal, for example. It's in learning what we share and how we differ that we get to know each other as whole, interesting human beings. No one is as flat as advertisements, TV shows, and much of the blogosphere would have us believe!
The most important part of this magazine is that it is not a glossy, pre-planned, commercial publication. It's a conversation. Your voice is the most important, and that's what should come through-- not ours.
