The Roaches is situated above Titesworth Reservoir and is an area of outstanding beauty providing many beautiful walks. The rocky outcrop is world famous for it’s rock climbing. The Post Office Barn is lucky enough to be just 1 mile and a lovely short walk from this stunning scenery.

A walk along the ridge from the Roaches past Doxey Pool will eventually bring you to the fascinating cleft/gorge of Lud’s Church just above Blackbrook.

Titesworth Reservoir is just 2 miles from The Post Office Barn and has an information centre and bird hide. There is also a lovely walk around it.

For eating out local hostelries include Ye Olde Rock Inn next door, the Three House Shoes, twenty minutes walk away, and the Lazy Trout situated near Tittesworth Reservoir which also has a restaurant and tea room. A short walk up the road below Hencloud there is the Roaches Tea Rooms with magnificent views over towards the Cheshire Plain.

Leek is the nearest large town to The Post Office Barn and at just 4 miles away it is definitely convenient. There is a high street with everything you need on it and as it is a Historic Market Town there are markets on regularly. It is a quaint little village, perfect for a coffee. There are also a lot of restaurants in Leek.

Buxton is 20 minutes from The Post Office Barn in the car. It is a lovely old spa town, perfect for a day out. There is a beautiful park and The Royal Opera House is absolutely stunning if you wanted to spend a night at the theatre. There is also the Pavilion Gardens and a wonderful high street with unusual shops and the usual shops you get in every town. Definitely worth a visit.
