Dear Poplar Tree families

Welcome to Poplar Tree Elementary School! I have the pleasure of serving as the President of the Poplar Tree Elementary School PTA for the 2015-2016 school year. If your family is new to our school, we welcome you to the Poplar Tree family. If you are a returning member of our Poplar Tree family, Welcome Back!

The PTA supports many special activities for your child, including cultural arts assemblies, author visits, a dozen different academic clubs, the Reflections Creative Arts competition, and the 6th grade show and celebration. The PTA also presents many wonderful family and community events like the Fall Festival, several Movie Nights, the school talent show and the Spring Fire and Ice basketball game.

The 2015-2016 school year promises to bring some exciting changes to Poplar Tree Elementary. In September, a new advanced academic program (“AAP”) center at Poplar Tree Elementary School will begin. The new AAP program will commence with grades 3 and 4 and will serve students from Poplar Tree, Brookfield, and Cub Run Elementary Schools. In light of the establishment of the AAP Center, the PTA is establishing and supporting several new clubs and activities that we believe will benefit all members of the Poplar Tree community.

By becoming a member of the PTA, you will join a network of parents and staff members who are dedicated to making Poplar Tree a special place to learn and grow. You will also be part of a national network of people who support education and children. Finally, you will have a voice in making decisions for the PTA and assist in shaping the PTA sponsored activities at the school. Membership costs only $20 per family.

We hope our website will serve as a useful resource for learning more about the many enriching opportunities the PTA provides and we encourage you to check the website periodically for updated information. We also encourage you to check out the PTA’s Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/poplartreepta) for updated PTA information.

We look forward to seeing you at future school and PTA events. You are encouraged to take some time to volunteer at the school. By doing so, you will show your child your commitment to education and his/her school

With your support and involvement, I know this will be a great year for our school family!
