CELEBRATING 500 YEARS
This year is the 500th year of Martin Luther and the Reformation. In part of the celebration, there is a book, The Reformation, by Cameron A. MacKenzie. A preview copy of the book is on the table in front of the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall. If you would like to order a book, see the sign-up sheet on the table. If you order by October 12, the cost is $22.49. Make checks payable to POP, place in an envelop marked Reformation book and place in offering plate.

COOKIES OR SOUP IN A JAR
Thank you to everyone who helped make the jars two weeks ago. If you have not picked up your jars, you can get them anytime. Some of the jars were picked up last Sunday and we received $575 for medical missionary Molly Christensen! Thank you for your continued support!

LWML RALLY DAY
The ladies of our congregation are invited to attend the LWML Fall Zone Rally on Saturday, October 7th, 8:30 am, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 600 5th Ave, Mount Vernon, IA. The presenters are Willis and Carol Wulf. They have gone on mission trips to Vietnam and will share with you first hand how in all nations, God has brought faith through the Word. There is a sign-up sheet posted on the board by the kitchen.

MITES MISSION OFFERING
The new Mission goal for LWML is $2,075,000. One of the new mission grant goals is for providing food and the Gospel to starving children. MITES help! Jesus gives the same command today to feed the hungry that He gave His disciples. Mercy Meals of Siouxland, a ministry of Faith Lutheran Church, Sioux City began packaging fortified rice/soy meals in 2012. Mercy Meals donates all packaged meals to Orphan Grain Train for transportation and delivery to Christian organizations in many countries including India, Haiti, Romania, Ecuador, as well as to Navajo reservations in the S.W. and Ysleta Mission in Texas. The LWML grant of $40,000 will feed 50,000 to 75,000 hungry children who will hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
