Women of Peace                               By Carole Benson

As the Women of Peace, we will join  together to support  our  congregation, community, and all of God’s children.

Women’s Breakfast – Sunmist Restaurant – 9 AM Saturday, August 26th.

June 24th – Saturday - Day at the Park – 10 A.M. –All women are invited to Cricket Creek Forest Preserve on Fullerton Avenue for a day of Bible study, games and fellowship. Bring a sack lunch – beverages will be provided.

July 27th – Thursday – 7 PM - Christmas in July at Alden’s – In memory of our own Pauline Rossberg, we will once again celebrate with the residents of Alden Supportive Living on Army Trail Road in Bloomingdale. We have about 30 small gifts (unwrapped) to give away as prizes but need about 60!! Please leave in the Women’s ministry cabinet in the library. If you are planning on joining us for games and fellowship, please bring 3 dozen cookies to share with the residents.

August 13th – School Supplies – Once again we will be collecting school supplies for Lincoln School, an elementary school whose students are primarily low income and bi-lingual. A list will be posted on the bulletin board and in the newsletter in July.

September 15th and 16th - Rummage Sale – 8 AM to 3 PM Our annual rummage sale will be held Friday and Saturday, September 15th and 16th. We will be accepting household items, toys, games, sports equipment, books, and furniture, etc. BUT – NO TV’S OR VCR’S. Items may be dropped off beginning September 5th – NOT BEFORE – in Luther Hall. This year, Mike Zeiss and his able helpers will set up and take down, while WoP will price and work the sale.

FYI – In conjunction with our rummage sale in September (NOT BEFORE), we will be collecting good, used clothing and shoes for World Relief. These items will be used by refugees coming into this country with, literally, the clothes on their backs. We ask the following: All clothing must be in good repair with no rips, missing buttons, broken zippers, etc. All clothing must be recently washed and free of stains. Please do not donate items that are old and have been out of fashion for many years. Remember, we want help these newcomers feel as though they fit right in!!
