Women Of Peace

Women of Peace                               By Carole Benson

As the Women of Peace, we will join  together to support  our  congregation, community, and all of God’s children.

Women’s Breakfast – Sunmist Restaurant – 9 AM Saturday, February 24th.

January 14 – School Supplies – Thank you to everyone who donated school supplies for Lincoln School in Addison. This school’s enrollment is primarily children from immigrant families and they truly appreciate our donations.

In February, we will be collecting cake mixes, boxed or packaged cookie fixings, chocolate chips, frostings, flour and sugar, etc. because it’s a Valentine’s month and we are all such Sweethearts! Please leave your donations in the collection area in the Narthex.

At our January meeting, we discussed the future of our September Rummage sale. The consensus was that we hold our sale in the Fellowship Hall so as not to displace Pastor Cabello and his Spanish service. More information will follow on drop off specifics, sale days, etc. Also, in order to set up, work the sale, and pack up what’s left, we will require help from our congregation, so please don’t say “no” if we ask.

Upcoming events:

May – Cinco de Mayo food drive

June – Day at the Park

July – Christmas in July at Alden

August – Bountiful Harvest food drive and school supply collection

October – Pasta month food drive and Thankoffering Service

Please remember that the only monetary fundraising the Women of Peace will be doing in 2018 will be through purchases from Schwann’s. To date, your Schwann’s purchases have supported the Addison Switchboard, the Sweetwater Foundation, Gambia Project and Navajo Mission. Please continue your support of these worthy causes.

Our next meeting will be Sunday, February 11th, 2018, at 9:30 AM in the “Rainbow Room”.
