This Weeks Announcements

March 25, 2018

ALTAR FLOWERS  today  are given to the  glory of God by Seanna Reidemann in honor of Walter’s  birthday.

GOURMANDS will meet at 5:30 pm on Thurs., April 5th at Pilot Pete’s, 905 W. Irving Park in Schaumburg. For a reservation call Dee Romano.

BOOK CLUB   While Inara Erickson is exploring her deceased aunt's island estate in The Girl Who Wrote in Silk, she discovers an elaborately stitched piece of fabric hidden in the house. As she peels back layer upon layer of the secrets it holds, she finds her life becoming increasingly interwoven with that of Mei Lein, a young Chinese girl mysteriously driven from her home a century earlier. Join us on Monday, Mar. 26, at 7 PM in the church library as we discuss Kelli Estes’ poignant tale that was inspired by true events.

PASSOVER CELEBRATIONThursday,. March 29th 6-9pm  We will be remembering the Passover much as Jesus and his disciples did.  Look for information in the Narthex. Be sure to sign up to bring something for the feast or other ways you can help.  This is an opportunity to gain a greater appreciation of our worship services.  This meal is for families so children are encouraged to attend and participate.

CROSSWALK Good Friday, March 30 from 10:30 am to  12:30.  We start from Prince of Peace and march along Army Trail Road to Friendship Plaza by Village Hall stopping along the way to contemplate the walk that Jesus took to the cross.  We will carry the cross with us.  All people of every congregation are invited to join us so come. Those who have done this in years past say the experience gives a deeper meaning to the passion of Christ.

GOOD FRIDAY TENNEBRAE SERVICE  March 30 at 7:00 pm This is a time to contemplate the cost of the great gift of  God’s love.

DO YOU HAVE A CONFIRMATION CLASS PHOTO FROM YEARS PAST?   We would like to display them on Easter.  Please see Joan Kusnierz if you can lend us a photo or, if you have an extra one, donate it to the church for display.

THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, the Mel Gibson movie about Holy Week will be playing at the Marcus Theaters today at 2pm and Monday and Wednesday at 7 pm.

“Heavenly Father, we pray for help and guidance as we look to the future of our church. Give us strength and endurance to do your will, to spread your Good News to our families, friends, neighbors, and community.”

A PERSONAL NOTE FROM THE CHURCH SECRETARY As most of you know by now, I am leaving Prince of Peace for new endeavors and a new way to serve Our Lord.  I’ll be working in the K-9 Comfort Dog division of Lutheran Church Charities. Over the past 8 years I have made many friends here and have been treated with kindness, understanding and patience as I learned the ins and outs of life here at Prince of Peace.  Thank you and God bless you all.
