This Weeks Announcements

July 23, 2017

ALTAR FLOWERS  today  are given to the  glory of God by Dee Romano in honor of her son, Bob’s birthday.

GOURMANDS will meet at 5:30 pm on Thursday, August 3rd at Mack’s Golden Pheasant Restaurant, 668 W. North Avenue; Elmhurst.  To make a reservation, call Carol Fortier.

BOOK CLUB  In July the Book Club will continue its tradition of socializing and reviewing its guidelines instead of discussing a book.  This year’s event will take place on Monday, July 24, at 7:00 PM at the home of Ellen Welk. Everyone is invited and asked to bring an appetizer or dessert to share.  Because of the social gathering, there is an extra month to read the longer August novel, The Obsession by Nora Roberts.

SMALL GIFTS NEEDED   On July 27th the Women of Peace will again host a Christmas-in-July party for the residents of Alden.  They need small gifts (unwrapped) to give away for prizes.  You can leave them in the Women’s ministry cabinet in the library. (NOTE:  The time on the July calendar was not correct;  the party on July 27th is at 7 pm.)

SCHOOL SUPPLIES.  We are still collecting supplies to donate to Lincoln School.  A list of things that are needed is on the bulletin board across from the office and also available on the Welcome Center for you to take.  Boxes are in East Hall & the narthex for your donations.

BIRTHDAY GIFTS  Please see the big birthday box on the Welcome Center for ways you can help a child have a happy birthday.  The PoP VBS team is asking you to donate non-perishable birthday items, like paper plates and napkins, balloons, decorations, etc., and place them in the large birthday box on the Welcome Center.  Every child deserves a happy birthday with all the trimmings.

7TH GRADERS   Do you have a 7th grader in your family?  If so, it’s time to think about Confirmation Classes.  Let Pastor J.T. or the office know so we can get you information about classes starting at the end of August.
