~ A dedication of love ~

To our beautiful, spirited "little girl" who touched our lives in so many ways ~ we love you :)

"The smallest feline is a masterpiece." ~ Leonardo da Vinci

"There are few things in life more heart warming than to be welcomed by a cat." ~ Tay Hohoff

“It is difficult to obtain the friendship of a cat. It is a philosophical that does not place its affections thoughtlessly.” ~
 Theophile Gautier

“I believe cats to be spirits come to earth. A cat, I am sure, could walk on a cloud without coming through.” ~  Jules Verne.

"And God asked the feline spirit

Are you ready to come home?

Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul

And, as a cat, you know I am most able

To decide anything for myself.

Are you coming then?, asked God.

Soon, replied the whiskered angel

But I must come slowly

For my human friends are troubled

For you see, they need me, quite certainly.

But don't they understand?, asked God

That you'll never leave them?

That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?

That nothing is created or destroyed?

It just is....forever and ever and ever.

Eventually they will understand,

Replied the glorious cat

For I will whisper into their hearts

That I am always with them

I just am....forever and ever and ever.

"If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should wake me from my sleep
Then you must do what must be done
For this last battle can't be won.
You will be sad, I understand
Don't let your grief stay your hand
For this day, more than all the rest
Your love and friendship stand the test.

We've had so many years
What is to come will hold no fears
You'd not want me to suffer, so
When the time comes, please let me go.
I know in time you too will see
It is a kindness you do for me
Although my tail its last has waved
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Do not grieve that it should be you
Who has to decide this thing to do.
We've been close, we two, these years
Don't let your heart hold any tears."

"Like a graceful vase, a cat, even when motionless, seems to flow."  ~ George F. Will

"There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats.” ~  Albert Schweitzer

With special thanks to Anthony Sakal, D.V.M., for his dedication, love, and special care of our little girl throughout her 16 years, and to Jodie Smith, D.V.M., who helped us through Briquette's crossing over the Rainbow Bridge.

Briquette passed as she had lived, ~ secure in her home, hearing our voices, and being held in our arms.

Forever in our hearts,

~ March 25, 1992 - March 16, 2008 ~

Our other girl, Lily, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge 14 months after Briquette.  We know in our hearts that Briquette was there to greet her when she arrived.
