Mike Chapman

Sea staff 1976-1980 with P&O SNCo then OCL/P&OCL 1981-87.  Various roles then in the Beagle House office finishing in 2006 (following the Maersk takeover) responsible for the company internet (PONL.com) and intranet (PONLWorld) and their associated applications.

After leaving P&O Nedlloyd I spent 2006-11 at the charity Cancer Research UK as Head of Intranet.  I then freelanced in various roles 2011-12 before joining Barclays Bank where I moved to governance & control work, finishing with five years as Cyber Security Certifications Lead (mainly ISO27001 Information Security auditing - rather different from shipping!)

I decided to take early retirement in 2020 but just swapped paid work for being almost a full time volunteer!  I'm a parish councillor for my village and volunteer at the Bletchley Park codebreaking museum where I'm a tour guide and veteran interviewer.  I also volunteer for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission  as a tour guide and speaker, looking after fifty WW1 and WW2 casualty graves in my area.
