The DVI module of the RTRDB

The DVI (Device Interface) is the part of Polyhedra that provides an interface to devices such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's) and Remote Telemetry Units (RTU's). Through PLCs and RTUs, the DVI allows the RTRDB to monitor and control remote devices. The interface operates by associating attributes of database objects in the RTRDB with individual datum points in these devices.
The DVI reference manual (attached below in PDF format) describes the conceptual model of these devices that is assumed by the DVI, and how this model is reflected in the structure of the tables used by the DVI. the manual also describes the protocol that Polyhedra uses to communicate with devices. This allows the production of a remote DVI in any language that understands the concept of sockets, and allows communication between a remote device and a Polyhedra RTRDB.

Note: the DVI is not available in Polyhedra Lite or Polyhedra Flash DBMS.
