Callback and Socket APIs

The callback API is a proprietary API for writing client applications. As its name suggests, it assume you want to use the callback model of programming, where are you are typically waiting for events and responding to them. As such, your application will normally be waiting inside the scheduler for activity such as a timeout or an incoming message from a Polyhedra database server

The callback API is supplemented by the Socket API, which allows you to register various sockets with the Polyhedra client-side scheduler at the heart of the library implementing the callback API. If the scheduler recognises that one of 'your' sockets is ready, it will inform your application code via the callback function registered against that socket.

To view a manual online, click on the name of the manual below; you will have to be logged on to a Google account to do this. To download the file for off-line viewing, click on the downwards pointing arrow  at the end of the line. Customers who have developer licenses for a full version of Polyhedra (on any platform) can download a ZIP file containing the full set of Polyhedra reference manuals: contact the Polyhedra help desk for instructions on accessing this.
