Welcome to my website!

I am currently an Assistant Professor at the Division of Social Science, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). My research interests include political economy of development, authoritarian politics, corruption and governance. I am particularly interested in the economic consequences of elite politics and the historical origins of long-run economic development in China.

I received my doctorate in political science from Northwestern University in June 2016. I was a Shorenstein Postdoctoral Fellow in contemporary Asia at the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center of Stanford University (20162017). I hold bachelor’s degrees in public policy and economics, and a master’s degree in public policy from Peking University, Beijing.
