Point Defiance AAZK welcomes anyone in our community to join our chapter! A large majority of our chapter are staff and volunteers across multiple departments from Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. Many of our members who are apart of the Point Defiance Zoo family work outside of the zoological sector of the zoo - such as conservation engagement (education) and operations. Why would a carpenter or a volunteer coordinator join a zookeepers association? One big reason is because they can request funds to go to and participate in a zoo and/or aquarium related conferences just by being an active member of our chapter!
To become a member of our chapter, all you have to do is a) become a member of National AAZK and b) let us know you want to be apart of our chapter! It's just that simple. The more you participate with Point Defiance AAZK, the more money you could be eligible to receive. We have four levels of membership with benefits. You can learn more about them by checking our the membership levels link under the constitution and files tab.

Please remember if you are asking for financial support as a benefited Point Defiance AAZK member, we asked that you request your money at least one month before the conference you are attending. Below you will find a list of frequently attended conferences and workshops, in chronological order, for 2018. Please be aware of the conference dates as well as the monthly meetings dates, which is when voting will occur for professional development member benefits. Make sure to have your application filled out and emailed into the chapter ahead of time, and keep an eye on our calendar for chapter meeting dates to be posted each month!
