Podcasting - Digital Authoring

The digital natives of the 21st Century require new and changing ways to create and communicate. 

Podcasting offers an ideal tool for creative expression and when students create a podcast they not only learn the content in a relevant way they learn 21st century communication skills. 

Course Description: This unit will allow students to record and edit voice, photos, movies and sound effects. 

Students will:
  • draft and perform audio and video scripts 
  • develop a sense of audience 
  • acquire skills in the use of either:
    • For MAC Users - Mac iLife ’08—Apple’s award-winning suite of digital authoring applications featuring iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand.   
    • For PC Users - Audacity, Windows Movie Maker, Microsoft PhotoStory
  • focus on collaborative team work 
  • select a student driven inquiry learning that will culminate in the creation of an intranet podcast and a vodcast to be shared with the school community via the school Intranet. 

Dates: May 6, 13, 20 & 27 and June 3. 
Unit Length: The unit will run during Periods 2, 3 and 4.
