What is PM&R? Physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R), also known as physiatry or rehabilitation medicine, is a branch of medicine that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. A physician having completed training in this field is referred to as a physiatrist. Physiatrists specialize in restoring optimal function to people with injuries to the muscles, bones, ligaments, or nervous system. -Wikipedia PM&R Residency: 1 year internship (usually internal medicine) 3 years PM&R 1. This will be accomplished by connecting VCU SOM students with PM&R residents, faculty and physicians at VCU. In addition, we will coordinate rehabilitation-related lunch lectures, workshops and volunteering opportunities. |
