We’re excited to again offer a local, nine-session weekly course for those wanting to prep for the PMP® or CAPM® exam. Here are the course details:

Dates: Tuesdays*, from February 19, 2013 through May 7, 2013
*Note: Class will not meet on March 26, 2013 (Spring break)
Times: 6:00 p.m. through 9:00 p.m.

Early Bird Course fee: $500 for Willamette Valley PMI members, $650 for Non-Members (Become a PMI member: the course discount covers your first-year fees.) The cost of the Exam Prep Course is $650 for nonmembers and $500 for members of the PMI Willamette Valley Chapter. For you non-members – the cost of membership is $144! Course Description:

This PMBOK-aligned course prepares you for the Project Management Institute's (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification examination. This course brings your project management knowledge to a "more advanced" level of performance and provides a common project management vocabulary. This course prepares you for the PMP® and CAPM® certification examination through a review of the PMBOK, quizzes and test simulations.

The Eugene Branch is excited to be using the professionally prepared InAct® curriculum from Velociteach in 2012. The InAct® curriculum is structured from the perspective of PMI’s nine knowledge areas of project management with an agenda that follows the concept of 17 lesson modules including Professional and Social Responsibility. Course participants will receive 27 hours of in-class exam preparation time and complete 8 hours of independent study online to fulfill the PMI's requirement for 35 hours of formal instruction.

Class size will be limited to 12 students. Materials for the Exam Prep Course included in registration fee (to be provided at first session):

  • Velociteach – Industry Leading PM Materials Student Workbook
  • 90-day subscription to online study material
  • A copy of "The PMP Exam: How to Pass on Your First Try, Fourth Edition" by Andy Crowe
  • Additional study aids for independent exam preparation

Note: this course will use the 4th edition of the PMBOK. (PMI will begin using the 5th edition PMBOK in their CAPM/PMP exams beginning July 31, 2013.)

Course Objectives:

At the completion of the course sessions, a successful student will be able to:
  • Describe the PMBOK knowledge areas and PMBOK process groups
  • Review and apply fundamental project management formulas
  • Understand the process of applying for a PMI exam and develop test taking strategies
  • Earn 27 hours of the 35 PMI-required formal instruction
