FAIL FORWARD MINDSET PHILOSOPHY
I believe failure is an integral part of the process of learning.  Therefore I will encourage you to operate with a FAIL FORWARD mindset. This mindset will help you grow and ultimately succeed in this class!  Someone who embraces the FAIL FORWARD mindset will embody the following:
  • Takes appropriate risks.
  • Operates outside of their comfort zone.
  • Uses failure as feedback, to grow from.
  • Understands the path to mastery is never a straight line.  The path to mastery will have ups and downs, times where we step backwards, but overall its trajectory is forward.
  • Understands that everything that happens to me is in my best interests, an opportunity to learn and grow.
  • Embraces real challenges.
  • Seeks the path that will benefit them in the long term, as opposed to the path that provides quick, easy benefits.
We will strive to embody these things as a class. I will strive to model each of these things as your teacher.  I encourage you to hold me accountable to this mindset and positively hold your classmates accountable as well!  Let's FAIL FORWARD together!
GROWTH MINDSET PHILOSOPHY
I believe that embracing a GROWTH mindset will help you maximize our time together this school year.  I believe that given time, with the right energy, effort, and attitude, you can achieve for more than you believe is possible.  It won't come easy!  It will take us working together!  It will require you to live out the GROWTH mindset.  Someone who embraces the GROWTH mindset will embody the following:
  • Knows they can learn anything they want to.
  • Perseveres when frustrated.
  • Challenges oneself.
  • Learns from failure.
  • Is inspired by the success of others.
  • Understands that effort, energy, and attitude determines everything!
  • Focuses on the process, not their feelings in the moment.
  • Works beyond their perceived limits.
  • Falls in love with the process, not the product!
We will strive to embody these things as a class. I will strive to model each of these things as your teacher.  I encourage you to hold me accountable to this mindset and positively hold your classmates accountable as well!  Let's GROW together!
