When planning implementation of your personal learning plan program, it is vitally important to consider your calendar. This may seem obvious, but regular academic benchmarks such as parent conferences, quarter and trimester transitions, and assessment reporting dates can be key milestones for your program.

Using the Personal Learning Framework, the sample implementation below identifies key dates, as well as the phase of the Learning Framework within which they occur.

Another key consideration revolves around the setting of goals. In the sample below, students are moving through the goal setting process three times throughout the year. Initial goals are set as students move from the Identity phase to the Growth/Reflection stage. Once students have set their first set of goals, they move into the reflection stage. Here they are continually reflecting on their goals, adjusting action steps, and revising goals as appropriate to their educational needs.
