What are the goals of the Physical Education Program?

Our goals in Physical Education are:

Ø  to encourage our students to improve their personal level of fitness

Ø  to develop lifelong fitness habits

Ø  and motivate students to never settle for less than their best

Emphasis will be placed on lifelong fitness in physical education classes.  Teenage obesity rate has doubled compared to twenty years ago.  One reason for this increase, according to the Missouri Department of Health, is that a little over one third of teenagers are not getting enough physical activity.  About seven out of every ten obese adolescents will remain obese as adults.  We need to work together to establish habits now that will last a lifetime.  Active teenagers have a better chance of being active adults.
