As Region Commissioner for Plenty Valley I welcome you to our new web site and take this opportunity to thank Peter Duckworth (ARC Cub Scouts PV) & Peter Baranow (DC Banyule) for their enthusiasm in getting the site up and running - this site will be the information tool for the Region, some areas of the web pages for obvious reasons will need a password to access.
Plenty Valley Region officially began on April 12 2010 - the Region encompasses the Districts of Banyule & Nillumbik formally in Yarra Valley Region/ Moreland & Hume formally in Hoadley Region & Tilba Tilba formally in Northern Region (minus 1st Benella who have stayed with the Northern Region).
Our Region Office is the Western Scout Service Centre, 16A, 77-79 Ashley Street Braybrook. The office is managed by Mrs. Mary Stanek, - Mary will assist with any enquiries that you may have on Scouting, Phone 8379 6222, Fax 8379 6220 and Email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our Region in distance covers approximately 400 Kilometers; the membership currently is 2303youth members made up of 141 Joeys, 738 Cub Scouts, 678 Scouts, 183 Venturer Scouts and 104 Rovers, 19 Rovers who are also Leaders and 1 Youth helpers along with 366 Leaders giving them Good Quality Scouting. The other Region Commissioners and I are very conscious of the fact that everything must remain as normal as possible for our youth members and leaders - any Scouting activities that have been booked / planned, etc must still go ahead.
As a New Region we have to be positive & progressive with the challenges that are ahead the first one is opening up Scouting to areas that have new housing estates; and also in areas where there once was Scouting but now all we have is empty Scout Halls.
Due to the distance of the Region we will be holding meetings in various locations so we as a Team get the opportunity to meet the Leaders of each District.
The Region Team and the Advisory Committee look forward to the challenges ahead we welcome any input from Leaders and youth members that you think will help our New Region.
