It plays December 14, 2011, at The South Broadway Cultural Center and January 13-22, 2012, at N4th Theater.
This lively and sentimental theatrical adaptation of A. A. Milne’s 1928 anthology finds Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and all the quirky friends plotting to escape from the Hundred Acre Wood after they discover that Christopher Robin will be sent away to Education. With its messages of tolerance and cooperation, this play is as the playwright calls it: ‘A Play for Everyone.’
Produced with the support of South Broadway Cultural Center, The House at Pooh Corner is a professional Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) production. Producer/Director Jonathan Dunski is expanding the programs offered by PLAY Conservatory to include a professional company in which all of the artists, including the actors, are paid. “I’ve been inspired by the great TYA work being done at Seattle Children’s Theatre,” Dunski says. He touts that PLAY Conservatory’s production will contract more than a dozen local Theatre artists. “Concerned parents are buying produce that’s grown locally and books from local independent booksellers. It should be the same for family entertainment. Take your kids to see locally produced Theatre for Young Audiences. It’s interactive quality time and great for the local economy,” Dunski says.
Preview performances of The House at Pooh Corner go on December 13 and 14 (although December 13 performances are for invited school groups only) — Wednesday, December 14 at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm — at the South Broadway Cultural Center, 1025 Broadway SE, Albuquerque, NM.
The play opens at N4th Theater, 4904 4th NW, on January 13, 2012, and plays for 8 performances through January 22 — Fridays at 7:00 pm; Saturdays at 2:00 pm and 4:30 pm; and Sundays at 2:00 pm.
Running time is 60 minutes, and the play is recommended for families, with children ages 5 and up.
