Pixie Fitzgerald is a 5 year old girl who lives near Geelong in Victoria, Australia. In November 2011 she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of Germ Cell Cancer (in the same group as Ovarian Cancer) which rapidly turned Stage IV, she now has multiple tumours in her lungs, liver and hips. She is about to embark on her 11th round of chemotherapy, has had several surgeries to remove tumours and install lines and ports and to date has had 33 blood transfusions.

Her parents Kylyn and John, 7 year old brother Max and 2 year old sister Tora live on a small farm where they have emus, dogs and horses and grow organic garlic.

The severity of the cancer has meant that Pixie spends much of the time transferring between Geelong Hospital and the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne. When there her parents and sister stay at Ronald McDonald House to be with her, while her brother stays with a family friend so he can continue going to school.

We are very fortunate here in Melbourne to have such an excellent health care system and Pixie is being provided the best possible treatments and access to specialist oncologists.

The purposes of our fundraiser is to build an extension to the Fitzgerald's tiny 13 square two bedroom home, it will have a hospital grade bedroom and bathroom so she can be at home between treatments more often. We also want to build a playroom for Pixie and her siblings to have fun and find escape from the harsh reality of this battle.

Despite the incredible hardships Pixie and her family are enduring they remain positive, they hold on to hope and keep battling.
