Punk Rebels with a Cause Rock the World

Anti-Flag is an activist punk rock band known worldwide for its fast paced energetic music and outspoken progressive left political views.  Fervently anti-war they rail against United States foreign policy, corporatism, racism, and social and economic injustices.  They advocate for progressive political action working with Greenpeace, Amnesty International, and other organizations. The band is comprised of singer/guitarist Justin Sane, drummer Pat Thetic, guitarist Chris Head, and singer/bassist Chris #2. The sales of their album releases on RCA, Fat Wreck Chords, their own A-F Records label, and the Side One Dummy label have landed them on the Billboard Charts.  Touring the world they rally their followers in Europe, South America, and North America.

After their first show in 1993, a live radio performance on Pittsburgh’s WRTC-FM, they developed a North American fan base by constantly touring the U.S/Canadian punk circuit and by releasing three indie label albums along with numerous singles and EPs.  While appearing on the 2000 Van Warp tour, Anti-Flag got their big break when they met Fat Mikeof the band NOFX who signed them to his Fat Wreck Chords label.  With the release of the “Underground Network” in 2001 on Fat Wreck Chords they broke out of the underground to a larger mainstream audience.  That album produced by Mass Giorgini reached number 23 on the Billboard Top Independent Album Chart.  Anti-Flag rocked the country again on 2001 Van Warp tour.  In 2002 they hit the Billboard Top Independent chart at #42 with the “Mobilze” released on their own A-F Records label.  Their 2003 Fat Wreck Chords release “Terror State” did ever better reaching number 7 on the Billboard Top Independent Album Chart and 91 on the Billboard Top 100.

With their sales and chart success the major labels sought them out.  They signed a two album deal with RCA given a guarantee that their music and message would not be censored.  They released their first RCA album “Blood and Empire” in 2006.  Working with veteran producer Tony Visconit (of David Bowie, T. Rex and Morrissey fame) they released “The Bright Lights Of America” album on RCA in 2008. Both RCA releases landed on the Billboard Top 200 and Top Internet charts.  The song “This Is The End (For You My Friend)” from the album For Blood and Empire was featured in the video game Madden NFL 2007 and on NHL 07.  To promote their RCA releases 5h3y performed in Germany, Russia, and Finland in 2008.  In 2009 Anti-Flag released the album “The People or the Gun” on the Side One Dummy label in 2009. They toured the U.S. in 2010 and embarked on a South American tour.  Anti-Flag founded its own record label call A-F Record that has released over 20 CDs from Modey Lemon, Reagan Squad, The Unseen, Anti-Flag and of punk bands.

Review “Of the People or the Gun” -“They get the sentiment of a thousand anguished FT editorials across in a mere 30 minutes. The hidden track is a-minute-long final blast into why we dig these angry, passionate American punks.” -Kelly Murray- NME 2009

Tom Morello, of Rage Against the Machine, called them "the most important emerging band in the US.  Uncompromising, ferocious and absolutely right. In desperate times like these, the world needs a band like Anti-Flag to set shit straight."
