The Girl Who Amazed the World

Classical cross-over singer Jackie Evancho is a major recording artist, concert performer, television star, and soon to be actress.  A child prodigy with an amazing superstar voice Jackie is a recipient of Platinum and Gold records for her two full-length albums “Heavenly Christmas” and “Dream With Me” along with her major label debut EP “O Holy Night” that was released in Nov. 2010.  With sales of over 1 million copies “O Holy Night” was 2010’s #1 best-selling debut recording by the youngest ever Soundscan era solo female artist.  The EP reached #1 on the Billboard Classical Chart and #2 on the Billboard Holiday chart.  Jackie’s studio album “Dream With Me”, that was released in June of 2011, features operatic arias, show tunes and pop standards.  Produced by David Foster it also features duets with Susan Boyle and Barbra Streisand.  Debuting at #2 on the on the Billboard Top 200 chart it was certified Gold within its first four weeks.  “Heavenly Christmas,” a holiday music album was released in November 2011 quickly climbed to the top of the Classical charts. With her rapid  success Billboard Magazine named Jackie to their list of music movers-and-shakers under the age of 21 and proclaimed that her “spellbinding, operatic vocals possess a power and poignancy that often moves listeners multiple times her age to tears.”

Jackie Evancho dominated the Billboard Classical album chart for 2011 with 3 albums in the top 5, along with 2 albums in the top 200 chart for 2011. Billboard ranked Evancho as the top Classical Albums Artist of 2011. The "Dream With Me" album was the number 1 classical album of 2011 and number 45 on the Billboard Top 200 albums for 2011. The 'O Holy Night'EP was the number 2 classical album and the number 15 album in the Billboard Top 200. "Heavenly Christmas" as the number 4 classical album and the "Dream With Me In Concert" DVD was the number 21 music video album of 2011.

In the world of television Jackie has appeared on The Today Show, The Tonight Show, America’s Got Talent, Britain's Got Talent, Piers Morgan Tonight, the final Oprah Winfrey Show and PBS.  Jackie’s 2010 “Dream With Me In Concert” featured on the Great Performances series was the most broadcast program of the year on the PBS network. The PBS concert was aired nearly 2,000 times on PBS affiliate stations reaching over 90% of all US TV households.

Her live appearances include singing at the 2010 National Christmas Tree lighting in Washington, D.C. for President Barack Obama and his family.  Jackie has also appeared with the Pittsburgh Opera.   Evancho performed in 10 cities on the America's Got Talent national tour from October 1 to November 5, 2010.  Touring during the summer of 2011 Jackie sold out concert halls around the country including performances at Lincoln Center and at home in Pittsburgh.

In her first appearance in a movie she will play Robert Redford's daughter in "The Company You Keep," which he is also directing.

Jackie Evancho, born in Pittsburgh, resides in Richland Township, Pennsylvania.  In addition to singing, Evancho plays the violin and piano.  Jackie’s interest in a singing career began when her parents took her to see the movie version of “The Phantom of the Opera” at age 7.  Her mother, Lisa, purchased the DVD and Jackie began learning the songs.  Surprised by her natural beautiful singing they supported her desire to perform.  

Jackie entered the Pittsburgh area talent contest Kean Idol in 2008.  She sang "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" from Phantom, finishing as the first runner-up to the 20 year old winner. She began taking vocal lessons after her success in the Kean Idol contest.  Jackie joined the Children's Festival Chorus of Pittsburgh during the 2008–09 season.  After Jackie’s talent show appearance her parents received requests for her to sing at various events.  She entered the 2009 Kean Idol contest and was again runner-up to an adult.  Evancho then traveled around the country to sing in talent contests. She also started a YouTube channel posting her song performances.  In 2009 Evancho competed U.S.A. World Showcase Talent Competition in Los Vegas. She won the Golden Ribby Award from WonderworldTV in April 2009 and the Talent Quest TV Show in June of 2009. 

Through Youtube and the talent shows she came to the attention of composer Tim Janis and record producer David Foster.  After hearing Jackie on Youtube, Tim Janis invited Jackie to sing “Ave Maria" on his 2009 PBS television special "Celebrate America” and at his other concerts and TV shows.  Receiving a video of Jackie in 2009 record producer David Foster, selected her for the regional semifinals of his “Hitman Talent Search Contest”.  In October of 2009 she sang in the "David Foster & Friends" concert at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

In November 2009, Evancho released her independent debut album called Prelude to a Dream. The album featured recording of Andrea Bocelli's "Con te partirò" and "The Prayer", Josh Groban's "To Where You Are" and Martina McBride's "Concrete Angel". It debuted in August 2010 on the Billboard 200 at #121 and at #2 on the iTunes and Billboard Classical charts. Evancho's parents withdrew the album from distribution in September 2010, after Jackie’s national sudden success on America’s Got Talent.

Howie Mandel said was that the Jackie auditioned in person twice for the America’s Got Talent “AGT” in Philadelphia but was not selected for the competition.  Not giving up the Evanchos submitted a video the AGT videio competion on Youtube video where viewers selected the winners. Jackie quickly earned the most votes capturing the twelfth contestant spot for AGT’s show’s 2010 fall season.  On the AGT show she sang Puccini’s “O Mio Babbino Caro.”   Judge Howie Mandel speaking to Jackie said that the show was seeking "to find that one moment, that one gem, that one star from a place we've never looked before.… This is the moment. You’re the star.

Making it to the semi-finals she performed Sarah Brightman's "Time To Say Goodbye" and advanced to the Top 10.  She made it to the final 4 singing "Pie Jesu" on Sept 7, 2010.  Her final competition performance was her rendition of Gounod's "Ave Maria" on September 14. On September 15 season finale, Evancho performed "Time To Say Goodbye" with her idol Sarah Brightman.  Jackie, only age 10, was named runner up to the winner Michael Grimm.  She became an overnight national sensation in September of 2010.  As the runner up Evancho performed concerts in 10 cities onn the America's Got Talent national tour from October 1 to November 5, 2010.
