The Wizard of the No 1 Smash Hit and Youtube Phenomenon  "Black and Yellow"

Wiz Khalifa is a chart topping Rapper.  Signed to Warner Brothers Records  in 2007 he hit the Rhythmic Top 40 and Hot Rap Tracks charts with the single “Say Yeah”   Signed to Atlantic Records in 2010 his single “Black and Yellow” was a number 1 smash hit on the Billboard Hot 100.  His 50 city "Waken Baken" tour with rapper Yelawolf the fall of 2010 sold out every venue.  In addition to his headline shows, he has appeared at festivals and venues around the country with Wu-Tang Clan, Snoop Dogg, Lauryn Hill, Girl Talk, A Tribe Called Quest, Rakim, KRS-One, Jedi Mind Tricks, Slick Rick, Method Man & Redman, Del the Funky Homosapien and Hieroglyphics, Atmosphere, Murs, and Cage. 

Wiz Khalifa was born Cameron Jibril Thomaz in 1987 in Minot, North Dakota.  He lived with his military family in Germany, England, Japan, and Oaklahoma before they settled in Pittsburgh, where he attended Taylor Allderdice High School.  His began writing lyrics, around age nine,At 12 he recorded and produced his own records in his father's studio when they lived in Okalahoma.. He adopted his stage name at age fifteen deriving it from khalifa, an Arabic word meaning "successor", and wisdom, shortened to Wiz. 

In  high school Khalifa recorded at I.D. Labs studio, in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of the Pittsburgh  Liking his work the I.D. Labs staff gave him free recording time.  They also recommend him to Benjy Grinberg, a former executive assistant to L.A,.Reid at  Arista Records, who founded the new independent label Rostrum Records.  Rostrum Records signed Khalifa, when he was a high school senior, to release his first mixtape, Prince of the City: Welcome to Pistolvania, in 2005.  It had good sales in his hometown and got a  buzz outside of Pittsburgh,  He followed up with the full length Rostrum album “Show and Prove” in 2006.   Major publications profile him, including Rolling Stone  Vibe, and XXL.  Rolling Stone magazine declared Khalifa an "artist to watch" in 2006.  Wiz released two mix tapes on Rostrum Records in 2007: Grow Season, hosted by DJ Green Lantern and Prince of the City 2.  With airplay in Pittsburgh and national press his mixtapes and albums sold tens of thousands of copies around the country.

Warmer Brothers Records signed him in 2008.  Warners release the single , "Young'n on His Grind." Followed by  “Say Yeah” which reached number 25 on the Billboard Rhythmic Top 40 chart and number 20 on Billboard's Hot Rap Tracks.  Khalifa released two more Rostrum Records mixtapes Star Power in 2008, and Flight School in April 2009.  After Warner Bros failed to release his first album, Wiz continued to work with Rostrum Record releasing more mix tapes in 2009.   Khalifa released his second album, Deal or No Deal, on Rostrum Records at the end of 2009.  It debuted at the top of the iTunes “Hip-Hop” charts remained in the top 50 for weeks.

In 2010 Khalifa performed at 2010 South by Southwest Music Festival and toured with rapper Yelawolf on a 20-date tour.  In April 2010 e released the mixtape Kush and Orange Juice as a free download.  With his growing internet popularity and live fan base Altantic signed Khalifa in 2010.  Rostrum/Atlantic released his single "Black and Yellow" in 2010.  With airplay and 35 million hits on Youtube, the single was a smash reaching number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Khalifa was named MTV's Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010, winning with almost 70,000 votes.

 Khalifa will release his debut album with Atlantic Records in 2011
