Member of the Nighthawks and Chart Topping Blues Recording Artist

Blues guitar virtuoso, singer, song writer and recording artist Jimmy Thackery was a member of the Nighthawks, led his own band Jimery Tackery & the Asssassins, and performs with his current band Jimery Tackery & the Drivers.   Joining the Nighthawks in 1974 he recorded 20 albums and toured the U.S, Canada, Europe, and Japan.  In 1987 he formed the band Jimmy Thackery & the Assassins and toured the East Coast with them until they broke up in 1991. Jimmy then formed the trio Jimmy Thackery & the Drivers.  Playing the circuits of blues festivals and blues club the band has became a mainstay of the blues world.  Thackery has released 15 albums on the Blind Pig and Telarc labels.  Eight of his releases have reached the top 15 on Billboards Blues charts.  "We Got It' (2002) and "Whiskey Store Live" (2004) both reached number 5 on the charts.  Thackery makes frequent appearances at Pittsburgh’s Moondog club. 

Jimmy was born in Pittsburgh in 1953.  He attended high school in Washington, DC.graduating in 1972.  While In high school, he played in a band with Bonnie Raitt's brother, David.
