Installation‎ > ‎

Linux

Pinguino IDE was written with python 2.5.
To use it on linux, you must install:
  • python 2.5
  • wx-python 2.8
  • libusb
Then download the latest release of Pinguino. Extract it in a new folder and right click on PinguinoBetaX.py.

In order to upload the program in the Pinguino, you need special permissions. A easy way (but insecure) it's to run the program as root (sudo python PinguinoBetaX.py). Another way a little bit more secure it's to make docker program to run as root (the first time you install pinguino execute sudo chown root.root tools/bin/docker and chmod 6755 tools/bin/docker). And the elegant solution it's to give permissions to the user for using the USB device (creating a group, creating a rules.d file and so on).
