About Us

The PINE RIDGE ACES is a golf group formed on January 7, 2016 by Fred and Jan Collins for the residents of the new Pine Ridge Village.  We started with just 16 people on a Thursday afternoon.  On our inaugural outing, Chad Murphy aced the sixth hole of Sarasota golf course, a premonition of good luck for our little group.

Subsequently, we had holes in one in February, March, April, June and July!  That's how the name "Aces" came to be.

We now have up to 120 players on a given Thursday and over 400 people on our active golfers email list.  Our young village is growing by leaps and bounds and we have seen the birth of a Sunday golf league, a ladies golf league, and a men's golf league, in addition to a bocce ball league, 2 Social Groups and a shuffleboard group!

We consider Pine Ridge Aces a great success and look forward to its growth, not only in membership, but in bringing people together in friendship and fun!

The Pine Ridge Aces are very fortunate to have a friend in Perry Styles, founder and coordinator of the Charlotte Eagles.  Perry built this website for us and taught us how to use it to make our league run smoother and more efficiently.  Our heartfelt thanks to Perry!

PINE RIDGE ACES LEAGUE RULES

Entry fee:  $3 per player; $2 each goes toward winners’ pot and $.50 each is for men’s and women’s Closest to the Pin (CTTP) award.

The $3.00 WILL BE COLLECTED AT THE GOLF COURSE BEFORE PLAY OR AT THE SOCIAL. IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO ATTEND THE SOCIAL, PLEASE MAKE SURE TO GIVE YOUR $3.00 TO SOMEONE WHO IS ATTENDING.

 RULES:

1.       All four/three team members play a team scramble to the cup for all nine holes.  Three player teams:   See NOTE 5.  Only the first shot is counted for the CTTP hole.

NOTE: A TWOSOME CAN COMPETE IN THE CLOSEST TO THE PIN COMPETITION BUT NOT IN THE 3 OR 4 PERSON TEAM COMPETITION.

2.       Men hit from the Gold Tees and Ladies from the Green Tees.

3.       The Group will meet after the round at Belle Glade Country Club for something to eat and drink. The Winners will be announced at the social.

4.       You do not have to be present to win UNLESS YOU WERE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO GET A HOLE-IN-ONE. THEN YOU MUST ATTEND TO WIN THE ENTIRE POT.   SEE HOLE-IN-ONE DETAILS below.

5.       In the case of a threesome, there will be a person hitting two  shots on a rotating basis. One person for holes 1 thru 3, second golfer for holes 4 thru 6 and the third player for holes 7 thru 9. ONLY THE FIRST TEE SHOT COUNTS TOWARD CTTP.

6.       Everyone have fun!

TIE BREAKER:

1.        In case of a tie we will go to the score cards.

2.       A random number is selected by the Random Number Generator App or by a random person.

3.       This number will represent the first hole to use for the tie breaker.  For example, if the number is 4 then we will use hole four on your scorecards. The winner of that hole wins the pot. If the teams are tied on that hole, then we will proceed to the next hole until someone wins.  If any teams are tied after nine holes, they will split the pot.

CLOSEST TO THE PIN:

1.       Use the same tees you are using for the Scramble.

2.       Your tee shot must come to rest on the putting surface (not on the fringe or beyond) to be measured.

3.       With the flag in the hole measure from the FLAG POLE to the front edge of the ball.

4.       A scoreboard and tape measure are provided to measure and record your shot. Only record shots that are shorter than that previously recorded by gender on the scoreboard.  If no one is listed then record your shot.

5.       We will provide the first foursome a scoreboard and tape measure.

6.       The first foursome will place the scoreboard at the selected hole. The scoreboard should be placed toward the back of the green on the fringe so it will not interfere with tee shots.

7.       The last foursome will pick up the scoreboard and tape measure and return them to the captain (first foursome) at the social.

8.       The winners are announced at the social. You do not have to be present to win UNLESS YOU GOT A HOLE-IN-ONE. SEE HOLE-IN-ONE NOTES.

Remember there are two potential winners (Men/Women) for that hole.

HOLE-IN-ONE:

1.       If a player gets a Hole-In-One during the Scramble then he/she will get ALL of the prize money for that group except the Closest to the Pin (CTTP) unless, of course, it is on the CTTP hole.  In that case, he/she will also get the CTTP money for his/her gender.

2.       The CTTP is a separate pot and the winners are still awarded their money according to the rules.

3.       A Hole-In-One player must be at the social to receive the prize money and buy drinks (one each for his/her foursome only).

4.       If the Hole-In-One player is not present, then the prize money will be awarded normally (to the team with the lowest score).
