                           Welcome!

As associate professor in biomechanics at the university of Hasselt (Belgium), my main research interest is the neuromechanics of gait and posture in neurologic populations. Specifically, my research focuses on the role of upper body (trunk and arm) movements during standing and walking and its relation to balance and gait stability. Furthermore, I focus on balance and gait interventions and the quantification of those improvements in different patient populations, such as children with cerebral palsy, older adults and adult neurology. To shed more light on the neural control of gait and balance, I also combine (three dimensional) movement analysis with neuroimaging (e.g.structural neuroimaging (MRI, diffusion tensor imaging), functional imaging (e.g. fNIRS, fMRI)) in healthy individuals and neurological disorders (CP).
