Dr. Stamatis Vokos
California Polytechnic State University
Dr. Vokos is a Professor of Physics at Cal Poly and also directs the STEM Teacher and Researcher (STAR) Program. Before he joined Cal Poly in 2016, he directed several projects on the learning and teaching of physics and has contributed to local and national science reform efforts in grades K-20, leading teacher education and enhancement programs in Washington State. At Cal Poly he is leading an effort to improve student learning and belonging in studio instruction in introductory courses. Vokos was member and two-term chair of the AAPT Committee on Research in Physics Education, member of the AAPT Committee on Graduate Education, and chair of the AAPT Physics Education Research Elections Organizing Committee. He served as chair of the National Task Force on Teacher Education in Physics and vice-chair of the AAPT Teacher Preparation Committee.
Δρ. Τζίνα Πανοπούλου
Η Τζίνα Πανοπούλου κάνει έρευνα στον τομέα της Αστροφυσικής, με ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στα μαγνητικά πεδία και την αστρογέννηση. Πήρε το διδακτορικό της δίπλωμα στη Φυσική από το Πανεπιστήμιο Κρήτης το 2017. Εργάστηκε ως ερευνήτρια στο Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο της Καλιφόρνια στις Η.Π.Α. (Caltech) από το 2017 εώς το 2019, και ως μεταπτυχιακή υπότροφος της NASA από το 2019 εως το 2022. Είναι επισκέπτρια ερευνήτρια στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου και από το 2023 θα εργάζεται στο Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο Chalmers της Σουηδίας ως επίκουρη καθηγήτρια.

Τελείωσε τις προπτυχιακές σπουδές της ως φυσικός στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου και συνέχισε με ένα μεταπτυχιακό στη θεωρητική φυσική στο Imperial College London στο Λονδίνο. Αυτή την περίοδο είναι διδακτορική φοιτήτρια στο Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics, στο Μόναχο, Γερμανία. Ο τομέας έρευνας της είναι Tensor Networks methods για Lattice Gauge Theories και Quantum Optics.
