Hi PHHS runners,  families,  and friends of PHHS!

On Saturday, December 27, at 9 am  (right after Christmas),  we are holding an optional run on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). After the run, all who are interested and also  like PIE, will go to Julian, and have all the PIE they can eat. We have done this winter "PIE  Run" for years, and are happy to continue the tradition.

The run will be from PIONEER MAIL trail head, with access to the PCT. We will run north on this  out and back run of 60 to 90 minutes (or longer if athletes stay in pairs). This is a mountain trail, single track with amazing vistas. Well worth the trip to the mountains.

Take 8 East, to 79 North toward Julian, go about 2 miles past Lake Cuyamaca, go right on Sunrise Highway, about 7 miles to Pioneer Mail, which is on the left. There is a gravel lot, a bathroom, and it has picnic tables. Our access to the PCT is there.

Every car needs an Adventure Pass. They are 5$ or 30$ for a year. Please car pool to save gas .

This is a winter run, at elevation in the mountains. We will be running at about 5000 feet in elevation, so cold weather runningclothing is required. Ball cap, or a knit cap, long sleeves, running gloves, water, and a running snack. We will watch the weather very closely, and adjust to the realities of the day (We will not run in a snow storm ! ).

Remember to bring pie eating change of clothes to wear into Julian, a good post run snack, and a recovery drink.  It will take a while to get to your pies. You don't want to be hungry after workouts.

See you on the trails,  Jim
