Jim Maxwell's Advice:  Guidelines for Summer Running

We want to give you some basic guidelines for summer running in preparation for the fall Cross Country season. The emphasis for summer training should be on
consistency, 
- an easy pace, and
- running with your team mates.  

You should run a minimum of 5 times per week. Having friends or team mates to run with allows runners to run safely, builds camaraderie, makes the time go by quickly, and results in more regular training runs.

Athletes who have just finished Track or a different spring sport should go through a rest cycle.  Refer to "Post Season Rest Protocol" for advice from Jim Maxwell.   

Prepare yourself for running in hot and dry summer conditions. Refer to "Running in the Heat" for advice from Jim Maxwell.

There will be training runs on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays at 5:30 pm at Lake Murray. These runs are posted in our calendar.

There will also be training runs on Saturdays at various scenic locations throughout San Diego County.  Check out our calendar for schedules and locations.  Directions with GPS information can be found under Directions.
