Phoenix Amateur Radio Club commemorated the 800th Anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta in 1215 with a couple of on-air activities.  Information about all of the joint events, including station details and QSL Certificates, is available below and on both groups' individual websites.

MX0YHA - Skipton 10th - 30th June
A Youth Hostels Amateur Radio Group event

The Phoenix RG / YHARG innovative QSL Certificate

From 10 to 30 June MX0YHA was on air from Gargrave in the county of Yorkshire, which is in the ancient Barony of Skipton. Skipton Castle was the seat of the de Forz family (also referred to as Fortibus) in the early 13th century.

Just for this event, contacts will be able to download a QSL Certificate in lieu of a traditional QSL card and print it at a size of their choice, from postcard size up to A4. QSL cards will not be available for this event, but we hope that by introducing this innovation everyone will be able to enjoy the 'pleasures' of having something special to mark their contact during the event.

The MX0YHA activity was undertaken by Kevin (M0XLT) on the HF and VHF bands as conditions allowed.

Three sizes of the Skipton (MX0YHA) QSL Certificate are available below; please scroll down to the instructions at the foot of this page. The filenames indicate which certificates apply to each station.

GB8WD- Vale of Belvoir 10th - 30th June
A Phoenix Radio Group and Youth Hostels Amateur Radio Group joint event

Specimen of the Belvoir QSL Certificate

Phoenix Radio Group commemorated the signing of the Magna Carta from the Vale of Belvoir, which is overlooked by Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire, from 10th to 30th June. Belvoir Castle has been rebuilt and renovated several times, but the original Norman castle was the seat of William d'Aubigny who was a signatory to the 1215 Magna Carta.

GB8WD was operated by members of the Phoenix RG and YHARG on the HF and VHF bands as conditions allow. Times of operations were limited due to poor HF conditions. Station Manager was Brian (M0YBX).
