So, you have a sense of my educational background let me share with you what I’ve studied and where:
I hold a Ph.D. in Environmental Studies from Antioch University. My area of expertise is in Environmental Virtue Ethics. My dissertation focuses Aristotle and John Muir and the role of Nature in living a good life.
I have done post-graduate work at University of Colorado at Boulder. There I studied Justice and Human Rights, Environmental Ethics, and Aesthetics.
I have a Master’s Degree in Philosophy from Colorado State University. My emphasis was in Environmental Ethics, and Development Ethics.
I have a Master’s Degree in Communication from California State University, Chico in Communication. My emphasis was in Rhetoric and Public Address.
I have a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Humboldt State University in Speech Communication. My emphasis was in Critical Thinking and Debate.
I also am the former host and producer of EcoTalk radio. An award-winning nationally syndicated radio program (carried on Pacifica Radio) which focused on environmental issues with commentary and interviews with environmental leaders and authors.
I have taught Philosophy at Chico State for over ten years and am the former Chico State Speech and Debate coach.
Perhaps you may be curious about a link between ethics and communication. I trust the power of free speech and of honest and open communication. I believe that which stops communication is a threat to ethics. To that end, my class rooms are a free speech zone. And this goes without saying but late me hasten to add you will never, ever, under any circumstances be graded on whether or not you agree with me.
