What We Do

In August 2004, Philos Health volunteers traveled to Jagna in the province of Bohol, Philippines to provide health care services and train local health care providers.  Through June 2011, there have been 24 visits, each one week long, by doctors, nurses and other health care providers. As of August 2014, we will have made 38 trips to the Philippines with more than 450 volunteer trips

Philos Health  provides services that are not available in the community and trains doctors, nurses and midwives.

Philos Health follows the World Health Policy on Drug Donations to developing countries.  We ship only first class medicine that has not expired. Direct Relief International of Santa Barbara is another key source of medicine and supplies. Philos provides 48 essential medicine filling more than 4000 prescriptions each month.

Philos Health has shipped hospital beds and mattresses, incubators, a Sonosite ultrasound machine, exam tables, EKG machines, anesthesia machines, operating room tables and lights and much more.  All equipments have been tested by biomedical engineers to ensure that it is in good working condition.  Local staff is provided training by Philos volunteers on the use of the equipment and are continually updated.  All equipments have been tested.
