WINTER GEAR INSPECTION, WED JAN 30
We need to inspect, in person, every piece of essential gear EVERY CAMPER is bringing on the weekend. Come to Wednesday's meeting with all of these items. Check thrift stores for ski pants, ask to borrow a sleeping bag from a Scout who is not attending, hit the dollar store for hats/gloves/socks/leggings.
- Five plus pairs of socks
- Extra dry gloves
- Emergency backup gloves
- Two working flashlights
- Two winter hats that cover the ears
- Five layers of clothes on torso
- PLUS wind-proof insulated coat
- One of the layers must have a hood
- Three layers on legs
- Plus insulated wind proof ski pants
- Insulated snow boots
- Two sleeping bags
- And a blanket
Phase Zero: Wednesday, Jan 30 bring winter essentials to the Troop Meeting to be inspected (see above). This is mandatory for everyone's safety.
Phase 1: Friday, Feb 1. Bring your gear and bring your own dinner. Be AT THE CHURCH no later than 6PM. Load troop gear and leave for Save-A-Lot at 6:30. We are sleeping over at the church.
Phase 2: Sat Feb 2 make a breakfast, pack a lunch. Drive up to Minsi Saturday morning and make camp in daylight. One nighe camping at Camp Minsi. (106 Camp Minsi Rd., Pocono Summit, PA 18346). Winter camping, but with four sided heated shelters with wood stoves. Enclosed cooking area nearby.
Phase 3: Have challenge activities, earn rewards. Make a hot dinner and a bonfire.
Phase 4: Sun Feb 3 make a quick breakfast and head home.
