XSPF Music Player

To Create a Music player on your site has become quite simple actually.  Google provides you with a gadget, one of their experimental features.  First thing is you must have experimental features turned on.  To do this on your main edit screen on the right towrds the top click site settings and then enable experimental features.  The next thing you want to do is goto http://webjay.org here you will be able to create your playlist.  Click the create tab near the top and add your tracks be sure to choose XSPF in the little play page box.  Add your tracks and then copy the URL from that page.  Goto your google page that you want music on insert the gadget I spoke of earlier, simply click the pie piece and search for music, or XSPF either way choose the XSPF player.  It will then ask you for the URL of your playlist, paste what you copied from Webjay and add the extenstion .xspf to the end.  Thats it you are done.

Adding a Slideshow

This is is really simple now thanks to google.  First thing to do is figure out where you are going to place it.  Then ensure that experimental features are enabled.  Main editting screen on the right, site settings, ensure experimental features are turned on.  Now go to you page you are editting and click the pie piece, type in slideshow andenter the URL's pf the pictures you would like show. Thats it simple right...  For an example Phillyg8r's Home Page

Another option for this is to use www.slide.com/main to make and host your slideshow, this is what I am currently using on my homepage, you get lots of options and they even generate the code for you.  All you have to do is register and uplaod your photos.

Adding Pictures(Lots of them)

Best thing I have found so far is adobe photoshop.  You can link directly to your slideshows that you share.  Goto this link for a free trial edition http://www.adobe .com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=2977 I am awaiting Picasa web albums to see how that works.  Well with adobe once you have your pictures uploaded all you need to do is select what photos you would like to share and ahre them to yourself, it will ask you who you want to share with, enter your own email address.  Then open the email and click on the picture in the email, a new window will open again just click the picture and your slideshow will open.  Now this is the tricky part copy and paste the URL from this slideshow window and insert it as a link into your page, test the link and it should work fine.  Thats it very simple.  You can do the same with Flickr as well.  Only thing with Flickr is you are limited to your upload size.

How to Create links within a page

When I first set out to do this I found it to be a little confusing so I am going to post here what I did.  First choose your layout, where would you like your menu of links to be, I chose the right side as on this page.  Then all you have to do is enter a little bit of code.  Where your links reside and on your menu.  First lets start with the menu, enter this little piece of code:             & nbsp;             & nbsp;                  <a href="#DESTINATION">your text</a>, leave #DESTINATION as is just add a 1 on to the end so it says #DESTINATION1, the nice thing here is google will fix this for you.  They will make it so it references your page.  Now the tricky part the destination that you want this link to goto.  Enter this code: Where you wan the link to be directed to...             & nbsp;                                                                   <a name="DESTINATION"></a> again leave just how it is and add the 1 to the end so it says DESTINATION1. Google will make a small change to this as well.  It will end up looking like this <A href="" name=DESTINATION1></A>.  For each new link all you need to do then is copy and paste the code and change the DESTINATION1 to DESTINATION2 OR DESTINATION3 and so.  You do the same with the destiantion link as well just copy and paste and change the DESTINATION1 TO DESTINATION2 OR DESTINATION 3 and so on.  Its actually pretty easy, only thing do not remove the # in the first part of the code this is needed.

Insert a Hit Counter on your site

This one is just about as easy as they some.  Choose the place on your site where you would like you Hit counter.  Then you need to goto the following url http://www.amazingcounters.com/sign-up.php Follow the instructions on the screen and get the html code after you have registered and chosen your style.  Then you just go back to your Google Page and click edit HTML and paste the code in that you just copied.  Thats it, its just that easy.  You do have one important choice to make when you create your counter and that is to track all visits or just unique visits, You can inflate your actuals hits by counting all visits however I would recommend unique visits so you have a better understanding of how many people visit your site.

To add embedded music to your homepage

This one is really easy as well.  Especially now that Javascripting is allowed in GPC.  All you need to do is upload your mp3 file to GPC or somewhere else that hosts files.  Get the URL.  Then copy and paste the following code.

<EMBED src=your_mp3's_url.mp3 width=0 height=0 type="text/html; charset=UTF-8" controller="false" loop="true" autostart="true"></EMBED>

Replace the part that says your_mp3's_url.mp3 with your mp3's URL.  Thats it it plays on a loop continuously.  Check it our on my homepage.  Phillyg8r's Home Page
