Fire and Ice

Some say the world will end in fire,

Some say in ice.

From what I’ve tasted of desire

I hold with those who favor fire .

But if it had to perish twice,

I think I know enough of hate

To say that for destruction ice

Is also great,

And would suffice.

    Robert Frost

254 (“Hope”)

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,

And sings the tune--without the words,

And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;

And sore must be the storm

That could abash the little bird

That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land,

And on the strangest sea;

Yet, never, in extremity,

It asked a crumb of me.

  Emily Dickinson

Hold fast to dreams,

For if dreams die,

Life is a broken-winged bird

That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams,

For when dreams go,

Life is a barren field

Frozen with  snow.

  Langston Hughes

Mr. Phillips
I have been teaching longer than I can remember.  Besides language arts 7, I also run The Knight Morning Show, a daily TV show broadcast throughout North Central and (soon) on the world wide web.   I am in love with words and all their magic.  I hope you are too!
