Pete graduated from Moravian College in 2002 with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics, a high school teachers certificate, and a lot of debt.
Upon graduating from college he worked for 3 years at Randolph High School in Morris County, NJ. While living in suburban New Jersey was lovely, it was just too much for him. He had to leave the bustling country and move to a nice quiet city - Philadelphia.
After 2 years of teaching in the School District of Philadelphia where he had to dodge bullets, desks, and obscenities hurled from students, he landed at the Creative And Performing Arts High School (CAPA).
While the students at CAPA are quite passionate about studying their respective arts area, their passion for studying mathematics pales in comparison. To get students to pay attention to him, he must do ridiculous dances.
In an endevour to excite his students about careers in mathematics and engineering, he has taken part in various RET programs. In the summer of 2008, he participated in the RETAIN program, where he helped with research in bioinformatics and music engineering technologies. This summer, I am part of the RET-NANO program, and I will be continuing the research I was helping with last summer. This summer I will be working with Dr. Gail Rosen and Steve Essinger on developing a program to analyze an organisims DNA.
