posted 16 Sep 2016, 00:17 by Perth Sailing Club

Ten boats took to the water for Sunday’s Heathens race.  Conditions were dry, but cloudy with a south/south westerly variable light wind. Andrew Porteous helming his Albacore and crewed by son Richard made an excellent start upriver to the first mark of a triangular course, a position he held throughout the race followed by the Solo of Hunter Williamson, then the Lasers of Bob Watson and Sandy Rodger.  Next came Jack Douglas helming his Streaker followed by the Firefly of Bill Inches the the Solo of Jim Galloway.  To the rear came the slower boats, Vicky Wright helming her Europe followed by the Enterprise sailed by Gordon and Kirsty Niven then Ivan helming a Mirror.  At times the course presented some difficulties for all boats with the very light wind being very variable with the slower boats results being worked out on average lap time.  First over the line following four rounds was Andrew and Richard followed by Bob with Hunter in third position.

Results after Handicap:-

Sun. 11/9/16:-  1st Kelpie (A.Porteous/R.Porteous) 2nd Whoof (H.Williamson) 3rd Blue Meanie (B.Watson)
