Five boats took to the water for the continuation of the Dewar’s Series on Wednesday evening.  Conditions were overcast and cool with an E/NE wind, force 4-5 and gusting.  It was a slow start with Jim Galloway in his Solo (Woodpecker)  leading followed by John Ferguson helming a Laser, then Bob Watson also in the Laser (Blue Meanie) , Euan MacDonald (RSAero7) and Jacob McCauly (Laser Radial) all starting late. At the first lap it was John, Bob and Jim and the order remained the same for lap two. The wind conditions favoured those who chose to sail closer to the North bank heading east and this allowed Blue Meanie to overtake Woodpecker on the last lap. At the line it was John Ferguson (Laser) , Bob Watson (BlueMeanie) and Jim Galloway (Woodpecker) with Jacob in the Radial staying ahead of Euan to claim fourth after handicap.

The same five boats headed out for race two of the evening. The Race was shortened to two laps due to the fading light. Bob Watson (Blue Meanie) made an excellent start getting clear away from John Ferguson in the other laser. At lap one it was Bob ahead by ten seconds with only two seconds separating John Ferguson (laser) and Euan MacDonald (RS Aero7).  Jim in his Solo was training by about a minute and James in the radial with the smaller rig was about three minutes behind.  On the final lap it was Bob who again favoured sailing upwind on a port tack nearer the North bank who crossed the line first with John Ferguson (laser) in second and Euan MacDonald (RS Aero7) crossing ahead of Jim Galloway (Woodpecker) in fourth.

Thanks to the Senior members of the club covering the duties, Rescue crew, Bill Inches and Robin MacArthur who provided cover in the cold conditions and Malcolm Moore who was Race officer for the evening.

The second Heathens race was held on Sunday 28th April. It was a fine morning with some sunshine and force 2 winds after yesterday’s rain. Six boats took part and it was the Watson Enterprise (Aeolian) that reached the top mark ahead of James Curley sailing Eric’s Phantom (Cormorant)  with the Solos of Hunter Williamson (Whoof) and Jim Galloway (Woodpecker) not far behind. Audrey Robertson in her Streaker (Whiz) and Bill Inches in his Firefly (Hellespont) were not far behind.  On the completion of Lap 1 Cormorant had built up a commanding lead over Hunter (Whoof) and Bill Inches (Hellespont) .  James Curley held onto the lead as they continued into lap two with Hunter only a second behind and Bill, with Jim , Bob & Anne Watson and Audrey now at the back of the fleet .  Jim managed to gain a place over Bill as they went over the line at lap three but it was James Curley (Cormorant ) who finished first with Hunter Williamson second and James Galloway third.
