Towback Race

posted 8 Sep 2019, 14:18 by John Ferguson
Once again light winds were sent for Sunday's race. With the river high and the wind in the west, a short hike upriver looked tricky so the mark was brought closer between the five minute and the start. Once round this, the flow kept the six boats moving even while the wind took a break as it did a few times. With a time rather than a distance set, the leaders knew they could turn for home after a hour or so sailing. While the leading group pulled ahead, none of them could break away from the others and finished 23, 25 and 26 seconds over the hour with Peter Bevan's Miracle crossing first despite being on paper the slower boat. James Curley followed by Hunter Williamson.
