Milhurst Race

posted 17 Sep 2017, 15:04 by John Ferguson
The annual race to Milhurst and back took place on Sunday in a generally easterly wind of variable strength. Quite challenging conditions meant the fleet of nine boats got well separated. Initially Andrew Porteous and Peter Bevan got off to a good start but by Sleepless Inch, John Ferguson had got ahead and pulled away to the turning mark off the ruined bothy that was home to Perth SC in its early years.
Not to be written off, Andrew regained the lead about half way home and kept close enough to take the trophy on handicap.
